If you are looking for a cost-effective, conservative way to enhance your smile, dental Lumineers may be the perfect solution for you. Here at Oral Implants & Reconstructive Dentistry, we use Lumineers to fix a variety of cosmetic issues such as misshapen, cracked, chipped, or discolored teeth. Unlike traditional porcelain veneers, Lumineers are a thin, easy to place, and inexpensive way to improve your smile!

What Are Lumineers?

Lumineers are a brand of dental veneers. Unlike traditional porcelain veneers, Lumineers are made from thin laminate. Because they are so slim, they are much easier to place and do not require enamel to be removed to get a good fit. They are also less expensive than traditional veneers, making this option a more economical choice for many of our patients.

What Are Lumineers Used to Treat?

Lumineers are an excellent way to treat a variety of minor cosmetic dental issues. Like veneers, we use this treatment to improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped, cracked, misshapen, and discolored. They are great for patients who are looking for a long-lasting, cost-efficient way to conceal blemishes and brighten their smile!

Lumineers are thin and often somewhat translucent. This can help them look and feel more natural than their porcelain counterparts. Unfortunately, this also generally means they are not ideal for patients with severe tooth discoloration. During your consultation, we will discuss your cosmetic goals and any concerns you may have to find the right treatment for you.

What Is the Procedure?

We will begin with a consultation to discuss your treatment goals and concerns. During this time, Dr. Heller or Dr. DiDonato may want to take digital X-rays of your teeth. Once they have determined that Lumineers are the right treatment for you, they will take impressions of your teeth and send your information to a professional dental laboratory. Skilled technicians will use these impressions to craft a beautiful set of custom Lumineers!

Once your Lumineers are ready, Dr. Heller or Dr. DiDonato will have you come in for a second appointment. During this visit, they will attach the Lumineers to the surface of your teeth. Because they are so thin, your dentist will generally not have to remove any enamel for this treatment.
